This term proved to be a hectic one with school and library gigs coming at me thick and fast!
School gigs included trips to Birmingham, Blackburn, Preston, Scunthorpe and Clitheroe to name but a few. Selly Oak SEN school in Birmingham made for a memorable two days – the largest SEN school in the UK. I worked with all years from Y7 through to Upper Sixth. Lincolnshire was one of my furthest school visits this academic year. The pupils at The Grange Primary were top notch and made my time in ‘Sunny Scunny’ an absolute joy. Twelve schools featured in the final term of the year and the book buzz was strong in all of them!
Libraries featured heavily on the schedule. I worked with Wendy from Daresbury Laboratory to deliver story science sessions at five libraries across Greater Manchester for the GM Festival of Libraries. We worked with huge audiences and had a marvellous time. Oldham libraries invited me to attend StoryFest in July. This involved working with pupils at Beever Primary, Oldham and then teaming up with other creatives at the library the following day – a cracking couple of days. One of the last library gigs of July was in Blackpool to help launch the Summer Reading Challenge. Always nice to return for a hometown visit.
Another academic year has closed and it’s been fantastic. My summer will be spent in libraries across Lancashire and Ellesmere Port this year before the school gigs restart in September.
Huge thanks to those who have backed me in any way. Your support is valued more than you’ll ever know!
