What a term that was! The school visits kicked off in January with three days spent in Worcestershire – the third visit building links with three fabulous schools in Redditch. The rest of the term was spent in 30+ schools across the North West. From Blackpool to Wigan and Warrington to Lytham, I had a fabulous time sharing stories and writing with countless numbers of children.
Libraries played a big part in my adventure this term. I’ve spent time at Adlington library (Lancashire Libraries) working with local children from all four schools. I performed stories at Wigan Library and set up a writing competition across the town that had an incredible response – even visited the schools of the winning entrants. One of the highlights was the day I featured at the BASH awards in St Helens Libraries. It’s a joy and a privilege to support so many libraries and champion the great work they do.
One other exciting development this term was the first delivery of a workshop in collaboration with Daresbury Laboratory. The session is called ‘Fact Meets Fiction and is a mash-up of scientific facts and fictional storytelling. I’m excited about rolling out more of these sessions across the North West.
Great to look back on a hectic, but fabulous, term! Roll on Summer Term.
