This visit was booked in late 2017 so I’d been looking forward to it for a good while.
The morning kicked off with a fast-paced author assembly in which I shared the last five years in half an hour! The children heard about the Tales and Eric’s adventures and got to see Martin’s marvellous illustrations at the various stages of development. The session was rounded off with a performance of one of the Tales. It was a particularly stomach-churning story, especially at 9:30am, but it went down well which was great.
The rest of the morning was spent in Year 3. The children had listened to the opening of Blown Away from Impossible Tales. I performed the rest of the story before we pulled apart the ending. The children then planned their own version of my ending. The ideas that were flying around the room were fantastic! I’m sure the children’s final writes will be ace.
A lunchtime book signing finished off the visit. After signing books for lots of children I drove home, tired out but very happy. My morning at Lostock Primary was just great.
Special thanks must go to Mrs Parker for sorting the visit and helping to effectively promote the signing.
