I had a fantastic time at Padiham Green.
The morning kicked off with a KS2 author assembly. As it was my first visit, I just about managed to share the events of the last five years with the pupils. They heard about Eric’s adventures and even saw a performance of one of the Tales. It was a fantastic forty-five minutes!
Next, I went to Year 6 to write with the pupils. We discussed nasty characters the children knew from books they had read before I unleashed an unpublished character of my own called Bazza. The children pulled apart my writing and highlighted any ideas they liked. We then discussed alternative ideas before the pupils started planning. Once the ideas had been formulated and plans created, the pupils started work on a short piece featuring their version of Bazza.
It was a joy to work with such enthusiastic pupils and I can’t wait to read their final drafts following the editing process.
Big thanks to Mrs Atkinson for inviting me and the staff and pupils for making my time in school so enjoyable.
