I’m always a little nervous when I visit a school for the first time, so after seeing off a few butterflies I made the short journey to Charles Saer Community Primary in Fleetwood.
After fitting all of the pupils, from Year 1 to Year 6, into the hall, I started right at the beginning with Impossible Tales and followed that by explaining Eric’s adventure. After talking to the pupils about the qualities required to succeed as a writer, I shared the process involved in creating More Impossible Tales. The children saw some of the draft manuscripts and the illustrations and cover designs. To finish, I put on the storytelling waistcoat and shared one of my favourite Tales. It was lovely to hear the children’s reactions to the story and I was thrilled to bits it went down well.
It was great to return a couple of days later to sign some books and chat to the pupils a little more. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Charles Saer and would like to thank Miss Manson for organising the sessions.
