Academic year 2024 – 2025 started off in fine style! It was a pleasure to open new school libraries in Clitheroe and Colne – always makes my heart sing. I delivered my first ATSA session in Atherton, collaborating with Wigan libraries, to fire up talented writers from eight local primaries. School visits in Blackpool and Cheadle were fantastic and both return visits allowing me to build existing links. I haven’t visited many schools in Warrington, but Stockton Heath Primary was a memorable trip and sparked lots of other visits in the area, which is the dream!
This term saw the start of my ‘Writer in Residence’ role at St Matthew’s in Blackburn. I will be working with all KS2 classes across the year and writing sessions so far have covered witches, fearsome teachers, forest settings and ice creatures to name but a few. It’s really lovely to build links across the year and exciting to see the children’s writing develop.
October and November saw visits to schools in Wigan, Liverpool and Poulton-le-Fylde before a triple-header of visits in Warrington. Wonderful!
December was a quiet month as I had blocked it out for some writing time. Impossible Tales 4 is taking shape nicely and these stories will be very different – creepy will be the theme this time. Get ready for some chills and scares. Hopefully the book will launch late 2025. Watch this space!
I’ve added a few action pics below, plus some writing generated in workshops. Follow me on X @dan__worsley to see loads more from school and public gigs.
As always, huge thanks to those who have supported me and provided opportunities to continue my ‘literary mission’.
