St Francis’ Primary is a small, rural school in Goosnargh, near Preston.
This was my first visit to the school so I kicked off proceedings with an author assembly. All of the children attended, from Foundation Stage to Year 6. It was an absolute joy to share my writing adventure as the children listened intently. We even finished off the session with a performance of one of the Tales – the children laughed in all the right places! Brilliant!
Due to the numbers involved, we managed to get all of KS2 in the hall for a writing workshop. We investigated nasty characters from books and films before looking at one of my unpublished pieces of writing. The pupils pulled apart my writing then planned their own version of my character, Bazza. I have a sneaky feeling they’ll produce some storming pieces of writing based on the session – they worked brilliantly!
The visit concluded with a book signing. It was lovely to chat and answer lots of questions. I even met Frankie who had researched me before I visited – check out the amazing artwork.
Big thanks must go to Miss Deakin for inviting me along to visit her fantastic school. I had a marvellous time!
