It was an early start when I travelled to Cherry Fold Primary, Burnley.
The morning kicked off with an author assembly. The pupils listened intently as the events of the last five years were squeezed into forty minutes. I introduced Eric to the children and shared an Impossible Tale. It was a pleasure to promote reading for pleasure, make writing exciting and encourage the pupils to chase their dreams.
The rest of the morning was split between the two Year Six classes. We discussed nasty characters from books the pupils had read then focussed on Bazza Simmons – a character I’m working on for a future Impossible Tale. The children pulled apart my writing then built their own version of my Bazza. Both sessions were great – ideas and writing energy filled the classrooms.
The morning concluded with a book signing in the fabulous library. A lovely way to bring the visit to a close.
Thanks must go to Mrs Morretta for inviting me to Cherry Fold. I had a cracking time and I hope the children did too.
