After a two-hour battle through blizzard conditions, I finally made it to Coppull Parish Primary for my first ever visit to the school.
We hastliy rearranged the timings for the morning and kicked things off with an assembly. I shared my writing adventure from Impossible Tales to Eric 2 and even managed to squeeze in a performance of one of the Tales. It was a top opening to the morning and allowed me time to defrost!
I then joined Year 5 for a writing workshop. We pulled apart a piece of unpublished text, I explaining my thinking behind the writing then we discussed lots of alternative ideas. The pupils then rebuilt their own version of my writing, incorporating lots of fantastic ideas. I wished the children well for their first drafts then joined Year 6 to repeat the workshop. Phew – what a fast-paced morning!
It was lovely to sign some books and chat to some of the pupils at lunch before I headed home. I had a cracking time at Coppull Parish Primary and would like to thank Mrs Bird for inviting me. I’m already looking forward to returning on World Book Day 2019!
