I love visiting schools and it’s always an extra bit special to visit a school for the first time.
The morning at Westgate kicked off with a KS2 author assembly. In forty minutes, the children discovered what I’d been doing for the last four years! I explained about the Tales and Eric and even pulled on the storytelling waistcoat to share a particularly disgusting Tale! The children were great and I loved meeting them.
Next up was a writing workshop with each of the two Year 6 classes. We pulled apart my writing, talked lots about alternative ideas then the pupils planned their own version of my writing. The time whizzed by and the pupils in both classes were a dream to work with. I’ve a sneaky feeling their writing will be ace!
The morning finished with a book signing – the queue was remarkable. I hope the books bring lots of happy reading time to the pupils.
Thanks must go to Mrs Reid for organising the visit and promoting the signing. I loved my time at Westgate!
