The new academic year is up and running and the first week of visits featured three author assemblies.
The week started at Clifton Primary. This was my third visit and I have enjoyed sharing my books with the pupils each time. It was great to explain the writing and illustrative process involved in creating the new book. The session finished with a storytelling session as I put on the storytelling waistcoat to share one of the new Impossible Tales. I’d like to thank Mrs Legge for inviting me in.
On Tuesday I returned to Layton Primary, the school where I taught for fifteen years. It always feels a bit strange to stand at the front of the hall as an author and storyteller, rather than a teacher! The children were fantastic and it was a joy to share More Impossible Tales with them. Thanks to Mrs Jones for organising the event.
Thursday featured a visit to Boundary Primary. I have visited the school many times before, both for writing sessions and author assemblies and I always have a great time. The children were brilliant and listened so well as I explained how the book was created. To finish the session, I put on the waistcoat and shared one of the stories from the new book. Thanks to Mrs Hamilton for arranging the event.
Check out the Boundary website for more details about the visit: http://www.boundaryschool.co.uk/reading/
Three school visits completed and the new book has been shared with over 750 children. What a week!
