June was an extremely busy month and featured some memorable visits.
The month kicked off with a morning of writing at Archbishop Huttons’ Primary, Warton. I spent time creating character descriptions with each class in Key Stage 2 and the writing the children produced was fantastic. It was my third visit to the school and hopefully I will get to return in the new academic year.
Blackpool libraries asked me to deliver some storytelling sessions and writing workshops in schools across Blackpool. This was part of the annual Wordpool event which is a celebration of all things literary in the town. I visited six schools: St Kentigern’s Catholic Primary, Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary, Devonshire Primary Academy, Baines Endowed C of E Primary, Stanley Primary and Unity Academy. I created character descriptions about some really nasty pirates as well as sharing a pirate story in whole school assemblies. I had a blast!
June closed with a visit to Colne Park High School. I spent a fabulous afternoon with a lovely group of Year 9 students. I shared my writing adventure with them, told them some stories and had my socks blown off by the writing which they produced. A cracking afternoon!
