I’ll never forget the day my first book, ‘Impossible Tales!’ launched in 2014. I can remember where I was, what I was doing and exactly what happened that special day. It was a landmark occasion and one which will be forever stamped in my memory.
Well yesterday, I went through the whole experience once again with ‘Eric Appleby: Zero to Hero’. It was a day jam-packed with so many emotions. I went from smiling and bouncing around the house to sitting quietly and shedding a few tears. All of the hard work, by so many people, which had gone into the book over the last 9 months was there for the world to see.
I spent lots of time on social media and on the phone which I’m finding is part and parcel of writing books. I did get a chance to spend time with my dad and share the experience with him which was brilliant. I even stopped off at the school I used to teach at, which was lovely.
Unfortunately my mum didn’t get to see my writing adventure which always triggers lots of different emotions. In my heart though, I know she will have read Eric’s adventure from afar and I hope she liked it and is proud of what I’m doing. Thinking that way makes me smile.
By about 10pm, I was really flagging! The excitement had turned to a weary haze and the adrenaline was running low. I even found myself nodding off in my chair.
The day Eric Appleby was released into the wild will stay with me forever and I’m now looking forward to the journey ahead. Launch day is a roller coaster of emotions and is just one of the many highlights of being a writer.
